The season 2013 is over and it’s time to have a look on my new showreel with the highlights of my work as filmmaker, cameraman and editor specialized in aviation films and aerial disciplines videos. This year started in January with the aerial filming of the new “Total Gaz” Eco Balloon over “Le Creux-du-Van” in Switzerland for our mini-documentary “A new Eco Balloon is born“. The rest of the season I was mainly involved on two important projects : the video cover of the Patrouille Suisse on several airshows in Switzerland and abroad and the filming of my new forthcoming documentary about the Super Constellation. I’ve also filmed several other videos like Handiflight, North American Bronco, etc… Each project, independently of the amount of work, is first of all a team work. Many thanks to all of you (my friends, the pilots, the mechanics, the airshows organizers, …) for your collaboration in my video projects.
This year I worked in Norway, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland. 2012 was rich in meetings, new collaborations and new important documentary projects for which I spent several days of total immersion with the subject and people. I started in January with the filming of two hot air balloons videos with paragliding and skydiving jumps for Honda and Balloon Concept. Followed by the stunning video of an Extra 330 SC doing aerobatics in the Swiss Alps. After that, I’ve edited a short documentary to cover the project “Eco Trans Canada 2014″ of my friend Pierrick Duvoisin. In May I started the filming of this year’s main project : I followed Captain Ralph “Deasy” Knittel during his airshows season and made his portrait as the Swiss F/A-18 Hornet pilot and his work as the solo display presenter on airshows in Switzerland and abroad. Beside this work, I’ve filmed some stunning aviation videos in Waddington (UK), Birrfeld (CH), Sanicole (BE), Axalp (CH) with the Rafale, the F16 and the Swip Team by night, the impressive Chinook, my friends of the Captens, the Breitling Jet Team, etc… and a short-clip for Edelweiss Air. One summer afternoon I’ve met my old friends of aeromodelling and we filmed a short video of a Yak 55. Remembering my first steps in video 10 years ago ! Now I’m working on a new hot air balloon documentary and new videos for the Patrouille Suisse.
2011 was an amazing year of new projects and collaborations. It started in January with an aerial camera work for the NHK Japan television in Château-d’Oex. I filmed all the aerial footage from the hot air balloon of John Armstrong during the 3 days of competition. Followed by some amazing video projects with pilots on the airshows of Dittingen and Sion like the Bronco, the Rafale, the F/A-18 Hornet, the Saab Gripen, the Captens, the Edge 540 and the Cobra of Flying Bulls. I made the trailer for the Swiss National Championship 2011 in Bex. In July I met my friends of Handiflight again and filmed the event all the week under the rain. And my biggest aviation project this year : I filmed the 26th World Aerobatic Championships in Foligno (Italy) for the FAI in September.
The year 2010 was mainly dedicated to editing videos (over 70 hours of footage filmed on the airshows in 2009). Different video clips were edited and are now available on Vimeo. But beside this editing job I have been following the Hawker Hunter flight crew and pilots and I’ve filmed and edited two short films with the Hawker Hunter piloted by Claude Nicollier, Raymond Clerc and Marco Lupi. During the fall, I met Jérôme Cusin (an aerobatic pilot) and together we decided to film a spectacular air-to-air video with areobatic manoeuvers over the Lake of Geneva. I also filmed a short video during a gravel transport work performed by Heliswiss with a Eurocopter SD2.
The year 2009 was rich in pictures. I have been traveling all around Europe visiting spectacular airshows such as Flying Legends in UK, Ferté-Alais in France and Airpower in Austria. My aviation connections provide me regular opportunities to shoot Air-to-Air sequences from aircraft, helicopters, gliders and hot air balloons. I’ve filmed over 70 hours of footage on the airshows in 2009. Part One with the legend of the warbirds and oldtimers filmed during the Flying Legend (UK) and Ferté-Alais (France) airshows with B25-Mitchell, B17, P51 Mustang, Spitfire, Aerostars, Piper J3C Cub, Fokker DR1, …
Part Two : Spectacular jet team displays with the Red Arrows, the Turkish Stars, the Patrouille Suisse, the Breitling Jet Team (whose I saw 4 times the display in 2009 : Montreux, Airpower, Ferté-Alais, Kestenholz) and the Flying Bulls with their Zlín Aircraft Z-50 L. It was also a year with stunning helicopter projects like the portrait of the K-Max of the swiss company Rotex AG, the Mil-Mi26 with the transportation of the new catamaran of Alinghi, the displays of the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion, the Agusta of the Belgium Air Force and the BO-105 of the Flying Bulls. Without forget the amazing others performances with T6 Eichorn, Bucker Jungman, Yak18, Stearman, Spartan,… and finaly the exclusive footage filmed during the Axalp Airshow with the Swiss Air Force F5-Tiger, F/A-18, Cougar and EC635.
